Town Hall Citizens’ Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes, April 23, 2019
6:00 p.m. Town Office Building Basement
Present: Ann Kuendig (interim chair), Dave Larkin, Ray Colton, Betty Warner, Jeremy Rayner, Glenn Reinauer, Patty Haskins, Sarah Gallagher
Ann called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. and introductions were made. Ann provided information on Vermont’s Open Meeting Law, and rules of procedure for the committee. Once organized, a chair, vice chair, and secretary will be elected. Agendas must be posted 48 hours prior to a meeting and minutes posted following the meeting.
Ann also provided a brief history of the building, and what repairs have been made over the last 10 years or so.
The charge of the committee by the Select Board is to research the various options for the building (restore, raze, sell, redesign), obtain community input regarding building use, and present options for moving forward to the Board in March of 2020.
There was some discussion about the current safety of the building, should the chimney area be roped off? What are all the issues that need to be addressed – structural, electrical (lighting), water, etc.?
It was generally felt that there will be two areas of work to be addressed at the outset: one of building research and building issues; and one of community engagement. It was also agreed that the size of the committee must be increased to effectively accomplish this work. Those present were asked to speak with friends and neighbors about serving on the committee.
A tour of the building was set for Thursday, April 25, at 5:00 p.m.
Next meeting: Monday, May 13,, at 5:00 p.m. in the basement of the Town Office building.
The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. upon motion from Ann, seconded by Glenn.
Approved: May 13, 2019
