Herb Kuendig (by phone) called the meeting to order at 5:08pm with members Ray Colton, Carl Oertel, Tim Carter, Keith Hopkins, Jeremy Rayner and Glenn Reinauer in attendance. Jeremy seconded. All in favor.

Minutes Approval-Herb asked for discussion or comments on minutes for the September 28, 2020 meeting. Carl Oertel moved meeting minutes be approved, Tim Carter seconded. All in Favor.
Old Business:
#1 Q & A with Kevin Smith-Marble Engineering- Herb asked Kevin to give the committee a brief introduction into his firm. Kevin said he has been a civil and structural engineer for 30 years and has a fascination with historic buildings. He started his own company about ten years ago. Herb then moved to recess the meeting at 5:20pm so the committee could move to town hall to listen to Kevin’s preliminary’s ideas on adding supports to the first floor. Glenn seconded. All in favor.
Glenn took over as Chair in Herb’s absence to reopen the meeting at 6:15pm. Tim seconded. All in favor. The committee agreed that Kevin would design two frames (steel beam and two steel columns) to run parallel to the wooden joists and cast-iron hangers. Three smaller steel beams would be tied in to the center of the frames to reach a load level of 100 pounds per square foot. If the cement floor is found to be less than 8 to 12 feet thick, then the columns will be placed on 5 x 5 foot poured support footings to be cut into the floor.
New Business:
#1-Next Steps- The Committee agreed that it was important to get the design work as soon as possible to determine the next steps. Carl moved to hire Marble Engineering at a price not to exceed $1,100 and have Ann execute the contract as soon as possible. Jeremy seconded. All in favor. The committee also discussed contacting the Rutland Regional Office of the Board of Fire Safety to find out who serves as Pittsfield ‘s Fire Marshall to determine the steps required to secure a permit. Ray also suggested that the committee reach out to Messier House and Construction Movers to determine if they could move the beams in.
Glenn moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:35pm. Tim seconded. All in favor.
