Next Meeting Date: November 9, 2020
Adjournment:
Herb called the meeting to order at 5:13pm with Glenn, Jeremy and new member Mike Moran calling in by phone.
Minutes Approval: Herb asked if there were any questions or comments on the October 6, 2020 meeting minutes. Jeremy moved to accept the minutes. Glenn seconded. All in favor.
Old Business
#1 Review & Finalize draft design plans-Committee members discussed the draft design plans and had several questions about the length of the steel beams and the weight of the lateral beams. Herb will work with structural Engineer Kevin Smith to verify the dimensions and weight. Jeremy moved to authorize Kevin Smith to produce the final and stamped design plans. Glenn seconded. All in favor.
New Business
#1 Report on Floor Depth- Herb reported that he, Carl Oertel and Mike Moran (who brought along a large hammer drill) drilled into the basement cement floor in the proposed locations for the columns and determined that the floor was 4 ½ to 6 inches thick. Committee members acknowledged that will mean the cement floor will have to be dug out 18 inches deep in a 5.6 foot square for each of the four column footings.
#2Update on Beam Movers-Ann reported that she followed up on Ray Colton’s initial contact with Jason Messier with Messier House Movers in Rutland and sent him pictures of where the beams will go, where they might be brought in through the wall or windows and the potential staging area around town hall. Jason will send the committee an estimated cost and scope of work proposal.
#3 Permit for the Division of Fire Safety- Herb reported that the permit application had been filled out and Ann had gotten approval from the Select Board to authorize payment of the $160 permit fee and submitted orders for the check. Herb spoke with Pittsfield’s Fire Marshall Patrick Banks who said the permit will only take a week or so to process once the application is submitted with the final stamped structural plans. Herb moved for permission from the committee to send in the application once he receives the stamped drawings. Glenn seconded. All in favor.
Other Business- Herb prepared a Town Hall Project List and members discussed each aspect of the listed tasks and who might perform each task. Herb asked members to begin identifying local contractors, fabricators, welders, steel suppliers so the committee can begin to request estimates and proposals and email either Herb or Ann with this information.
Adjournment-there being no further business, Jeremy moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:54pm. Glenn seconded. All in favor.
