New Business:
Next Meeting Date: December 7, 2020
Adjournment:
Call to order: Herb Kuendig called the meeting to order at 5:13pm with Carl Oertel, Glenn Reinauer and Mike Moran in attendance. Mike seconded. All in favor
Minutes Approval: Carl moved that the minutes from the November 9, 2020 meeting be approved. Mike seconded. All in favor.
Old Business:
1. Update on design plans: Herb explained that because the initial concrete cutting and footing installation bids came in high, the committee hired David McKenzie ($150) to cut test holes in the slab to determine whether the soil below would support smaller sized footings. Herb and Glenn dug down 18 inches and found sandy, bony gravel. Herb relayed information to structural engineer Kevin Smith of Marble Engineering and asked if the footings could be reduced. Kevin said a deeper geotechnical study using a drill rig would have to be conducted for him to determine the bearing capacity of the soil and potentially change the footings. The committee agreed the cost of such a study would be too prohibitive.
2. Review project bids: Herb distributed a spread sheet of bids received from at least four contractors on the five sub-projects of phase one. Herb said he was waiting on two other bids on the footing rebar and installation. Committee members reviewed and agreed that hiring different contractors for different jobs would be cheaper than hiring one contractor for the entire job, but would require much more coordination. Committee members had some questions about individual charges which Herb said he would get clarification on from the contractors.
New Business:
Adjournment: there being no further business, Herb adjourned the meeting at 5:45pm, Carl seconded. All in favor
