- Update on Water mitigation project-Herb updated the status and final contract costs of the water mitigation project. All tasks except for the final restoration of the asphalt parking areas have been completed. The committee agreed to accept Charlie Bowens additional bid of $2,000 to pave the front of the building instead of maintaining grass. More gravel was used than anticipated, but Harvey’s discounted the bill as a donation to the building effort and all the gravel costs will come out of the highway sand & gravel budget as suggested by the Road Commissioner. Additional expenses that were prompted by the unforeseen damage of the front wall totaled $6,193.78. Since that damage was to the walls, the committee agreed that that funding should come out of the $25th Town Meeting allotted for the second phase of the project.
- Next Steps- The Committee agreed that the foundation walls should be painted before the trenches are paved over which Ann and Herb agreed to do over the next week. The committee also discussed the need to replace the front steps as Mike and Carl found dry rot in the structure and the platform and handrails do not meet code. The cost of plastic wood, two by fours and stringers for the new stairs was estimated to be around $5,000. Herb agreed to do a quick sketch for the new stairs while Carl will put together a materials list which can be sent to Home Depot, Goudro’s and Bethel Mills for pricing. The committee agreed to put together a work party to build the new steps. Additional tasks that need to be completed to get the top floor open for the September MakerPlace are: readjusting side door for easier operation, bulbs in fire exit sign, redirect down spotlights on fire exit, install electric ground wire, 5/8 sheet rock around lift in basement for annual lift inspection; fix electrical wire and re-hang electric box.
